Notes:

Peter:
According to some of the family records, was born 1771, although this seems unlikely; Lived at 10 Brunswick St., Macclesfield, Cheshire, England. He is listed in the 1841 census as having been a "painter" aged 45 born in the same county (birth year 1796). Hannah, his wife also of the same county (i.e. Cheshire) is listed as being 39. Peter is listed as having died in 1869, aged 76 (Bk 8a, p 65, Macclesfield), which would compute his birth year at about 1793.

Hannah
The 1851 census lists Harriet Mottershead (servant aged 16) and John (Journeyman Painter, aged 17) as grandchildren of Richard Beard (73, greengrocer, born in Ipslenes, Staffs) and Sarah (72, born Leek Staffs), and staying with them at Church Wallgate, Macclesfield. As the ages coincide, and John's father (Peter) was also a painter, the likelihood of this not being John's children is small. It is therefore a reasonable supposition that Hannah's maiden name was "Beard". Hannah is listed as having died aged 68 in 1870 (Bk 8a, p77, Macclesfield).

Elizabeth:
Married (unknown first name) Bond.

Sarah:
It is from Sarah that my line of Mottershead's descends - possibly illegitimately. The 1851 census lists "Henry Wood, grandson, scholar age 6" as being present. It seems therefore that It may be that my surname should be Wood!
